Jean "Moebius" Giraud 1938 - 2012

"...an artist is nothing but a man trapped in society, and for the most part, social man sees freedom only in what is forbidden. Forbidden things are always negative; you must not kill, you must not beat each other up ..... on the other hand, there's no law against being a saint. There's not law against praying to God, there's no law against doing charity work, or being good and beautiful. So one tends to see freedom as breaking taboos, doing what's forbidden. Wheras, in fact, freedom can consist of, rather than going where you aren't allowed, going where no one even thinks of going."
